Italian designers Michele Menescardi and Cristian Gori have unveiled TRAYY, a modular table system aimed at offices and classrooms, promising a blend of teamwork and personal focus.
From a casual chat to a full‑scale product
The pair met repeatedly at trade fairs, but the collaboration that produced TRAYY began with an informal conversation. They asked why designers couldn’t cooperate like musicians compose a song, and that idea shaped the brief. The goal was clear: a system that encourages group work while still allowing individuals to concentrate.
The result is a collection that can be reconfigured with different heights, formats and accessories. According to the designers, the tables adapt to evolving work, learning and exchange methods. The system is intended for environments that must shift quickly to meet changing needs.

Design choices that keep production simple
TRAYY offers two base options: casters, called TRAYY Linne, and leveling feet, known as TRAYY Cunne. From those, users can build individual desks, collaborative stations, bench arrangements for up to four people, or larger meeting tables. “With only two or three structural elements, it is possible to create a wide variety of tables and configurations,” Gori explained.
That simplicity was a key factor for the designers. By limiting the number of parts, they reduced technical and production complexity without sacrificing flexibility. The minimalist structure also defines the visual identity of the line and prepares the way for future extensions.
The core of the system relies on die‑cast aluminium joints. Menescardi noted the technical challenge of developing those components, adding that Actiu’s technical team helped create a modular system that is both easy to use and highly adaptable. The aluminium joints give the tables stability and durability suited for intensive daily use.

Beyond the core frame, the system can include integrated lighting, power connectivity and a range of accessories such as whiteboards, planters, hooks or small upper containers for organization. A selection of melamine finishes, along with custom timber or steel powder‑coated legs, adds further design options.
